LEILA HEKMAT —
THE ORGAN
GRINDER’S CANTO
@ DUDDELL’S
HONG KONG
@duddellshk #artbasel @isabellabortolozzigalerie Leila Hekmat’s performance aims to engage directly with social reality, identity politics and the specifics of space, while asking questions about how art relates to people. The Organ Grinder’s Canto is set to a song cycle inspired by Franz Schubert’s Winterreise and Roland Barthe’s A Lover’s Discourse. It centres around the search for humour through the darkness and human suffering, drawing on recurring themes in Schubert’s work — death, loneliness and a yearning for closeness and affection.
The Organ Grinder’s Canto show is taking place during March 29th and Friday March 30th, extending into an exhibit with costumes and a photographic series till June 28 at Duddell’s during Art Basel Hong Kong.
